TOKYO MONOGATARI
Tokyo Monogatari (Tokyo Stories) is a continuing personal project. The premise is to document my own vision of life in Tokyo, without any judgement, mockery or influence. The simple act of waiting for traffic lights to turn green, is interesting enough for me to be documented. It's an event in my life; part of my own existence and actuality; at that particular moment in time.

The genre of street photography, in contemporary times, tends to be ironic and distance itself from its subject matter. Being a foreigner in Japan, one can esily be tempted to aim for humor, and capture what seems odd to the eyes of a westerner. But I reject that point of view, and try as much as possible to steer away from that easy option - concentrating rather on finding a single, universal and human moment, caught at a decisive or poignant instant.

My hope is that the results could be in fact set in any other city, town or village around the world, and therefore understood, without having to be of any particular nationality.
